The Qur’an (Arabic: القرآن , literally “the recitation”) is the religious text of Islam. Qur’an was repeatedly revealed from God to Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him, is the Messenger of Allah verbally through the angel Jibrīl (Gabriel) over a period of approximately twenty-three years, beginning in 610CE, when he was 40, and concluding in 632CE (year of his death).
The Quran was not revealed only to be read and memorized, but the bigger and greater reason is for it to be pondered upon (tadabbur), understood, appreciated, and then applied in life.
